Everyone was anticipating the release, everyone was lined up around the block, everyone wanted to see Marvel’s “The Avengers.” Let me tell you why.
It all started in 2008 with the release of Marvel’s “Iron Man.” For those of us who waited until the credits were done rolling, we were left in awe. Some people who weren’t familiar with the comic books, they were a little confused, but still excited. Because they made it clear to all fans that there were multiple superheroes that existed in the same universe.
Then later that same summer, “The Incredible Hulk” was released, and that too had a surprise at the end. Tony Stark, (A.K.A Iron Man) made a cameo, he told the general that they were putting together a team.
Of course, this was just the beginning of the connectivity of the marvel universe. Later films hinted and teased at the avengers for years to come, with such titles as: “Iron Man 2,” “Captain America,” and “Thor.” All leading up to one of the biggest blockbusters of all time.
So with all this hype, and buildup, marvel set the bar pretty high. Most fans, including myself, were very skeptical if this film would deliver. All that skepticism and doubt was put to rest on May 4.
With the release of the film, the theaters were packed. Everyone from all walks of life attended this film, as it had something to offer for everyone. Critics agree that this film was a gem, and it did the box office records to prove it. With over 200 million dollars in its opening weekend, it’s kind of hard to argue with that kind of number. The plot was good, the acting was great, and the balance of personality’s, ego’s, and screen time was top notch. As a very big comic fan, I knew the source material, and as such, I, and many others are very hard to please. This movie pleased me very well, and I’d have to say audiences agree all around the country.
This film perfectly mixed comedy, action, drama, and a touch of bromance. All the while, this film was targeted to a much broader audience. With kids and adults alike, enjoying the film as much as the other. This film is a must-see for comic book fans and nonfans alike. It is made so you can enjoy it either way. I give it ten out of ten, the best comic book film of all time in my opinion.
In closing, I would like to add that when you see it, don’t leave until after the credits.
